A GOOSE
In my yard there lived noble goose Kinky,
Its beak and webfeet were red yellow and pinky.
It adored pinching grass
And some strangers’ legs and… backs,
My noble and proud goose Kinky.
OUR (НАШ) DONKEY (ОСЛИК)
Once (однажды), at (на) a market (рынке) we (мы) bought (купили) stubborn (упрямого) donkey (осла),
Its (его) voice (голос) was (был) so (такой) loud (громкий) and (и) shrill (пронзительный) and (и) honky (похожий на гудок автомобиля).
When (когда) it (он) did not (не) want (хотел) carry (нести) a load (поклажу),
It (он) stood (останавливался) motionless (неподвижно) on (на) a road (дороге),
No one (никто не) could (мог) push (толкнуть) forward (вперед) that (того) obstinate (упрямого) donkey (осла).
OUR DONKEY
Once, at a market we bought a stubborn donkey,
Its voice was so loud, shrill, and honky.
When it did not want to carry a load,
It stood motionless on a road,
No one could push forward that obstinate donkey.

The thin (тонкая) thread (нитка) in (в) my (моей) hand (руке) is very (очень) tight (туго натянута).

Once (однажды), there was (жил- был) an old man (старина) Johnny Grundy,
At (в) noon (полдень), he (он) woke up (просыпался) every (каждый) Monday (Понедельник).
He (он) began (начинал) to lament (причитать):
– Oh (о), dear (Боже)! Oh (о), dear (Боже)! See here (посмотрите)! See here (посмотрите)!
– Again (опять) overslept (поспал) my (мой) Weekend (выходной).
He (он) rushed (выбежал) from (из) his (своего) house (дома) in (в) different (разных) socks (носках).
On (на) his (своем) way (пути) he (он) stumbled (споткнулся) and (и) his (свою) head (голову) he (он) cocked (наклонил набок),

Once, there was an old boy Johnny Grundy,
At noon, he woke up every Monday.
He began to lament:

– Again overslept my Weekend.
He rushed from his house in different socks.
On his way he stumbled and his head he cocked,

DINA (ДИНА) – BALERINA (БАЛЕРИНА)
Once (однажды) a big (большая) elephant (слониха) Dina (Дина)
Became (стала) ballerina (балериной),
One day (однажды), she (она) took to the stage (вышлана сцену),
And (и) she (она) started (начала) her (свой) dancing (танец) with (со) passion (страстью), with (с) rage (азартом).
Jumping (прыгая), she (она) broke (сломала) two (две) ballet (балетные) scenes (сцены),
Thrice (трижды) trampled (затоптала) a few (несколько) ballerinas (балерин).
The whole (всей) troupe (труппой) kicked her off (выпроваживала ее со) the stage (сцены).
